"WWW's webmaster gets all wet..."
- Written by Rob Robinson
For the past four years I had
been taking care of the White Water Warehouse Web site,
seeing all these pictures and reading all these stories
of people having a great time rafting on the Rogue...
and I had never done it myself! Well, the time had come.
I've been rafting on a number of rivers and paddled a
whitewater canoe down a number more, but from what I had
heard the Rogue is a very special place. And, guess what,
I heard right!
My partner, Stephanie, and
I had decided to take a lodge trip. Camping would have
been fun too, but I wanted to be able to recharge my batteries
at night - digital camera batteries, that is. With an
underwater case protecting my camera, I was able to take
photos all along the river, including right in the middle
of rapids. Some of those were a little bit blurred at
times. You are sitting on a big raft moving up and down
and back and forth shooting at other moving objects. But,
when you take over 400 photos, you are bound to get a
few good ones. One of the photos appears below and others
will appear in various places.

As I was
floating along the river taking all of those photos, I
was thinking, what a great place to paint! Watercolor
is one of my passions. I didn't get a chance to paint
during the river trip, but I did paint Blossom Bar Rapid
after I returned, trying to recapture the feeling of the
place (painting below).
Take a look at more
paintings from the Rogue River trip (on my Web site).
